Prompt – You’ve been dating your partner for six months. Tonight they’ve invited you to a work event, and as you step onto the red carpet, you realize it for the first time: you’re dating a celebrity.
I thought the limo was a bit much for a simple work event. We had met a few months ago, and this was the first formal date. We had spent some time online and in chats. I had met her a couple of times for lunch and some book shopping as well. It was a bit unexpected that she had asked me to do this, and if I had some dressier clothes. After I had seen her as she waited outside of our ride, I think our definitions of dressing up were vastly different.
The couple of times we met, the picture she sent was very casual and fitting for the season. To see her wearing that red dress as it sparkled in the moonlight was quite amazing. She wore a light covering around her arms that did nothing to combat the chill in the air. She held the door of the apartment complex as I walked out, unable to stop staring. Her laugh as she watched my reaction was genuine.
Our limo pulled around the corner to show a crowd that threatened to overflow into the streets. The night was lit up by the flashes from cameras as we got closer. My face contorted into a confused look while we approached. The red carpet stretched from the street to the building came into view, illuminated by more lights.
“I should have probably told you exactly what I do as work.”
